As the Tide Comes In 
Juan Palacios (Dinamarca, 2023)

The Spanish Cinema Jury has decided to award the Best Film Prize to As the Tide Comes In, directed by Juan Palacios, for immersing us in an extremely powerful visual universe full of poetry and environmental reflection and offering us the portrait of a small community in transformation from a sensitive perspective and with sense of humour. Juan Palacios has been able to capture the essential connection between human beings and the natural environment with an anthropological gaze, revealing the small epiphanies that arise in the simplest moments.

“DAMA” AWARD FOR BEST SCRIPT OF A SPANISH FEATURE FILM:

Col·lectiu Vigília, Laura Corominas Espelt, Clara Serrano Llorens, Ariadna Ulldemolins Abad por L’edat imminent (España, 2024)

The Spanish Cinema Jury has decided to award the Best Script Award to the film L’edat imminent, directed by the Vigília collective, for its extraordinary ability to recount an intimate and universal story with the  maturity and emotional richness that resounds deeply with the viewer. With this debut film, the Vigília collective reveal their sensitivity to convey universal emotions and weave a testimony of intergenerational love, the burden of caregiving responsibility and the inevitability of those changes which, though painful, allow us to grow.

“AMAE” AWARD FOR BEST EDITING OF A SPANISH FEATURE FILM:

Paula Veleiro por Te separas mucho (España, 2024)

For turning editing into a process of creative exploration and personal healing, the Spanish Cinema  Jury has decided to award the Best Editing Award to Paula Veleiro for her film “Te separas mucho”. In this work,  her debut film, Paula Veleiro weaves, in a creative and sensory way, an intimate reconstruction process that transcends from the personal to the universal and with great sensitivity, illuminates how we embellish our memories as well as the complex relationship we keep with the images in our family archive.


“CIMA” AWARD FOR THE BEST FILM DIRECTED BY A WOMAN:

The CIMA Jury made up of Ainhoa Bolaños, Almudena Carracedo and Teresa Marcos has awarded the following prize from among the films premiered in the competitive sections of the 62nd edition of the Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival:
