TERTULIA THREE AMIGOS!

Saturday 16 Nov | 18:00

Toma 3

‘They are three friends, each colder and hungrier than the other. Separately they are worthless, but together they make do’. Friendship between critics is a remarkable feat, but Daniel de Partearroyo, Alberto Lechuga and Alejandro G. Calvo have achieved it, enriching their critical sense and strengthening their bond as they navigate festivals and contemporary film journalism. They will talk about their experience and much more in Toma 3, as a prelude to the screening of John Flynn’s Rolling Thunder (Special Screenings).

TALK

ME GUSTÓ MÁS EL LIBRO

22 Nov | 18:00 | Free admission

C.C. Antiguo Instituto (Assembly hall)

Talk with Azucena Rodríguez, director of the film Atlas de Geografía Humana, based on the famous novel by Almudena Grandes. The adaptation of a literary work, especially from such a close friend, poses an interesting challenge. During this talk, Azucena will share her experience about the complex relationship between the novelist, screenwriters and film direction, highlighting how Almudena understood that cinema and literature are two different languages. Through anecdotes and reflections, we will discover how creative freedom and collaboration are essential in the adaptation process. However, Azucena will confess that, if Almudena could read her thoughts, she would tell her that, in her opinion, ‘I liked the book better’.

TALK

LADY HITCHCOCK: LA COMPAÑERA OLVIDADA

Friday Nov 22 | 19:30

Toma 3

In this encounter, we will explore the figure of Alma Reville, one of the most influential women in the history of cinema. We will review her talent as an editor, screenwriter and creative consultant, and we will learn how her collaboration was key to the success of her husband, Alfred Hitchcock. In addition, we will delve into her role as a working woman in the film industry in the early 20th century and how her contribution has been historically invisibilised. As someone once said: ‘The Hitchcock touch had four hands and two of them were Alma’s’.
