«A VECES NUESTRA HISTORIA MUERE ANTES QUE NOSOTROS». JEAN-LUC GODARD, LOS CINCO CUADERNOS DE SCÉNARIO
From November 15 to 23 | Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 14:00 and 17:30 to 20:30; Sunday, from 12:00 to 14:00 | Free entry
C.C. Antiguo Instituto (Room 3)
From the completion of Livre d’Image in 2018 until his voluntary death in September 2022,
Jean-Luc Godard worked continuously on the creation of a definitive work entitled Scénario,
divided into six parts. Only one film was completed at the last moment: Scénarios, whose
plural title suggests a distant kinship with the original material, and the five accompanying
notebooks are also presented. These notebooks, composed of images (paintings, drawings,
photographs) and texts (quoted or invented), are films on paper: freed from the technical
apparatus of cinema, Godard edited them by displacement, reworking and repetition, as a
counterpoint to the themes developed in his earlier works.
They evoke the words of Pliny the Elder, who stressed the superior value of certain unfinished
works, in which ‘we follow with interest the outline and the very idea of the author; regret
joins in and conspires to seduce; we groan for the hand that death has frozen while he
completed his work’.

GIJÓN, UNA CIUDAD DE CINE[S]
From November 14 to 23 | Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 14:00 and 17:30 to 20:30; Sunday, from 12:00 to 14:00 | Free entry
C.C. Antiguo Instituto (Room 1)
This exhibition, curated by Rafael Suárez-Muñiz, PhD in Geography, evokes an
unforgettable form of leisure in the past: going to the cinema. The classification of the
contents and the order of the thematic line lead us to learn about the evolution of the
cinematograph, the experience offered and the spaces themselves from a construction
point of view: from the travelling barrack-cinemas to the pavilion-cinemas, passing
through the cinema-buildings and the multiplexes.
A very complete list of all the cinemas that existed in Gijón, from those in the city
centre to those in religious schools and parishes. The exhibition offers original objects
and materials from these spaces and from all periods, such as tickets, films, projection
cameras, seats, rewinders, log books, among others.

Cinema was one of the most popular cultural activities of the 20 th century, with cinemas in towns and villages. Film posters are a representative testimony of this industry, although in Asturias they are scarce before the 1940s. The Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies houses a rich collection of posters, totalling 315 related to Asturias, a figure that continues to grow thanks to various donations.
The exhibition presents 27 posters acquired in the last year from cinemas in Asturias and Mexico City. Among them is the poster for ‘The Bride of Scotland’ (1932), designed by Goico Aguirre. Also on display are ten posters by Germán Horacio, the best Asturian poster designer of the 20 th century, recently recovered. The exhibition also includes works from Spanish and foreign films from the 1960s to the 1980s by renowned poster designers such as Jano and Mac.

OBNI – OBJETO BERDE NO IDENTIFICADO
From November 14 to 25 | Monday to Friday, from 17:30 to 20:30; Saturday, from 11:00 to 14:00
Espacio Líquido Gallery – C. Jacobo Olañeta, 5
The BERDE Collective celebrates art as a universal expression, where what really matters are individual stories and emotions. This exhibition showcases a selection of works by artists from the BERDE Collective, as well as other collaborators who, since the beginning of the project, have enriched the artistic creation workshops held at LABoral Centro de Arte and the Atlantic Botanical Garden in Gijón. These spaces encourage learning, dialogue between artists and the realisation of creative projects.
The concept of the group exhibition ‘Objeto Berde No Identificado’ is based on openness to interpretation and ambiguity, expanding a range of creative possibilities.
Thus, the exhibition invites reflection on the unknown, the hidden, the marginal and the surprising.
The proceeds from sales will go entirely to the BERDE Cultural Association to ensure the continuity of the project and promote artistic creation by people with functional diversity.
Inauguration on Thursday 14 at 6:30 p.m.
